Porifera
The phylum Porifera contains only sponges. Sponges are the simplest organisms in the animal kingdom, so simple that they have only specialized cells, not organ systems. They are stationary, filter-feeding organisms that may be based off protists. There are three classes of sponges: Demospongiae, Calcarea, and Hexactinellida.
